According to the police, the accused, Somasekhar kidnapped the boy who was on his way to tuition on Friday morning at Saraswathi Nagar.
A 11-year-old boy was rescued from a kidnapper on the same day of his kidnap and returned to his parents.
According to the police, the accused, Somasekhar kidnapped the boy who was on his way to tuition on Friday morning at Saraswathi Nagar.
Later, he called up the boy's parents and demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh, threatening to kill the boy if they tried to alert the police or failed to pay him.
The parents did alert the police following which five special teams were formed to nab him. After collecting the CCTV footage from the area where the boy was kidnapped, the police found a Maruti Swift car that had an 'Army' sticker placed on it. The car was used to kidnap the boy.
It is learnt that Somasekhar is the son of a retired Army Subedar and had lost huge money in betting. Hence he resorted to the kidnap in order to make quick money.
The accused was traced late night on Friday and taken into custody.
