The State government is on the threshold of achieving the target of planting 40 crore saplings under the prestigious ‘Haritha Haram’ programme launched by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in 2015 in the State. So far, as many 32 crore saplings were planted under the mass plantation scheme.

Hyderabad: The State government is on the threshold of achieving the target of planting 40 crore saplings under the prestigious ‘Haritha Haram’ programme launched by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in 2015 in the State. So far, as many 32 crore saplings were planted under the mass plantation scheme.

In this endeavour, ten districts- Medchal, Warangal (Urban), Bhadradri –Kothagudem, Khammam, Warangal (Rural), Kamareddy, Siricilla, Mancheryal , Nizamabad and Jagtial districts have already achieved 100 per cent targets in the plantation.

To protect the plants, the government has constituted 4.56 lakh Green Brigades who were entrusted to establish tree guards and protect them till they grow them as trees.

Geotagging was also under progress for 100 per cent protection of the saplings. To achieve the target, government decided to rope in the dairy farmers in the mass plantation schemes.

All the farmers were asked to join the plantation programme from Wednesday in the state. Around 12 lakh saplings would be planted during the special drive.
