Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt N. Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the police was trying to shield the main accused in the murder case of Congress worker Vemuri Srinivasu, alias Vasu, the Mandal Youth Congress leader of Annapureddypally, who was brutally killed allegedly by TRS leaders in Yerragunta of Khammam on September 15.

In a media statement, Uttam Kumar Reddy and MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy said the police was yet to arrest the main accused Bionapalli Sudhakar, TRS Mandal President and DCCB vice chairman. They said that the slow pace of investigation and lack of action against the accused in Vasu murder case clearly shows that they were being shielded due to their association with the ruling party. They said that the TRS should have suspended all four accused from the party. However, instead of directing the police to take stern action against those involved in the murder case, the TRS leadership is supporting them.

Further, Uttam Kumar Reddy also accused Sub-Inspector Naresh of helping the accused persons. He said that the Congress party would soon meet Director General of Police Anurag Sharma seeking action against the accused persons and also the SI.

Uttam condemns attack on Yellandu Commissioner

The TPCC President has strongly condemned the attack on Municipal Commissioner M Ravi Babu by TRS leaders and workers. He said that Ravi Babu belongs to Madiga community of Scheduled Castes and therefore, the attack on him was an attack on Dalit community. He said on side Minister K. Tarakarama Rao exhorts people to report any misdoings by TRS workers. On the other, he prevents police from registering cases against TRS workers who attacked a Dalit officer who honestly tried to perform his duties by removing the illegal flexies of ruling party pertaining to Singareni election campaign. He alleged that the TRS workers attacked the Commissioner and his family at his residence and abused him in the name of his community. He demanded that stern action be taken against be taken against the accused persons to prevent recurrence of such incidents in future.
