Hyderabad : The Central Government on Wednesday sanctioned an amount of Rs. 1594.57 Crores for construction of 1,06,305 new houses in Telangana State.

The Government of Telangana has designated MEPMA (Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas) as State Level Nodal agency for implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yozana (PMAY) under Housing for All Mission for providing houses to all eligible urban poor families in Telangana State. Earlier, the Government of India has sanctioned 80,481 Houses in Telangana state and tied up with 2 BHK Program (2 Bed room Houses) launched by Government of Telangana.

The Government of Telangana through MEPMA have submitted the proposals for sanction of 1,06,305 New Houses in addition to the earlier sanction.

The Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC) meeting by Government of India was held on Wednesday at Nirman Bhavan, New Delhi for sanction of proposals. During the meeting the Mission Director, MEPMA has presented the details on the project proposals. Based on the presentation, the Government of India has sanctioned an amount of Rs. 1594.57 Crores for construction of 1,06,305 houses in Telangana State. Till now 1,86,786 (80,481+1,06,305) Houses are sanctioned by Government of India in Telangana State.
