Hyderabad : More than 97% of respondents, who participated in the People's Ballot conduct by Congress senior leader V. Hanumantha Rao, have opposed the construction of new Secretariat at Bison Polo Grounds.

Of 18,460 people who participated in the People's Ballot, as many as 17,892 (97.13%) have opposed the new Secretariat. Only 387 people favoured the State Government's decision of constructing a new Secretariat. While 142 respondents remained neutral, 39 votes were rejected as the respondents wrote slogans against the TRS Government in the ballot paper.

Speaking to media persons after counting of votes at Somajiguda Press Club on Wednesday, V. Hanumantha Rao said that the People's Ballot was conducted at 20 important junctions in the city. He said that the entire process was conducted in a free and fair manner.

Reacting on the People's Ballot results, TPCC President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that people have opposed the TRS Government's proposal as it was nothing but waste of public money. He said present Secretariat was well equipped and sufficient to run the government. He said that the Congress party would take the agitation against new Secretariat to all districts to pressurise the State Government to withdraw its decision. He prayed that God should give wisdom to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao who wants to waste public money for flimsy reasons.

IJU Secretary General Devarpally Amar was also present.
