Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy has appealed the citizens to utilize the available technology to know the details of the rains etc., through the website www.imdhyderabad.gov.in where the Metrological Department updates the radars’ pictures every 10 minutes.

The GHMC Commissioner said that the citizens can also visit GHMC’s website to know the details of water logging and vulnerable points and accordingly make their plans. He asked them to stay cautious in view of heavy rainfall warning for the next two days.

Dr. Janardhan Reddy, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy, Hyderabad District Collector Yogitha Rana, HMWSSB Managing Director Dana Kishore and senior officials of various departments have attended the emergency convergence meeting held at GHMC Head Office today.

Speaking to media persons later, the GHMC Commissioner said that the city received heavy rainfall of 10-12 cms from 4 PM to 7 PM on Monday which caused water stagnation in almost all parts of the city. He said despite heavy rains and on being a holiday, the heads of line department and staff swung into action and tackled the emergency situation.

The GHMNC Commissioner directed the Town Planning officials to send SMS as well as the notices to the owners of the dilapidated buildings to vacate the buildings for better safety and further directed all the officials of various departments to be alert to tackle the situation as and when the need is arises.

He also appealed the citizens to call emergency number 100 and also 040 21 11 11 11 to register their grievances of various nature like water logging, traffic, electricity, drinking water etc., where all the connected officials and emergency teams will be sorting out the problems at once related to their respective departments.

Janardhan Reddy also confirmed that three deaths have been occurred due to heavy rains on Monday. He said an ex-gratia would be paid to the affected families.

Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy and other officials advised that citizens’ mobile numbers should be utilized to create awareness about the rain forecast well in advance so that the citizens could plan well to tackle the emergency situation.
