Tandur: Black Stone Traders and polishing units demanded the Centre to reduce the GST on Tandur stones from the recently reduced 18 per cent to 5 per cent to ensure viability of the trade.

The traders and polishing unit owners did not welcome the GST council slashing the GST on Tandur stone from 28 per cent to 18 per cent. They said that their protest would continue till it is brought down to 5%.

They say that they have to face stiff competition from manufacturers of other flooring tiles, cement and brick units in the market. Tandur Stone Polishing Units Owners Association leaders Chandrakant and Rajagopal Sarda said that they had filed a PIL in Hyderabad High Court in this regard.

They said that they had called on the State Minister K Taraka Rama Rao, Transport Minister Mahender Reddy, MP Konda Visweswara Rao and urged them to resolve their issue.
