Hyderabad: The heads of different departments, who participated in the convergence meeting at HMWSS&B office today, has decided to take up 27 critical water logging points identified by Police Department in a phased manner.

The officials proposed that there must be a permanent solution to the water logging problem in future. Therefore, the cause for water logging will be identified and the respective department will take measures to solve it. While the Water Works department will take up rectification of water leakages and sewer over flows, the GHMC will deal with storm water drains and road relaying. Seven locations have been identified today which include Model House, Lakdikapul, Rethibowli Junction, Nampally Station, Malakpet Gunj, Road No. 12 and Chintal Basthi.

The concerned field officers will carry out joint inspections and come up with proposals for discussions in the next meeting the Chief Engineer Maintenance, GHMC and ED, Water Works will review the technical feasibility and present before the Commissioner, GHMC and MD, HMWS&SB for taking decision.

Meanwhile, the GHMC informed that pot hole filling by 120 instant repair teams (IRTs) has been going on continuously and so far, as many as 10,459 pot holes have been filled. Efforts are on to identify and fill the remaining pot holes on the same day.

The GHMC Engineers has been instructed to prepare estimates for laying of roads, drains etc., as the monsoon season is almost over so that the road repairs can be taken up immediately after the end of the monsoon.
