Hyderabad: Congress senior leader and former MLA T. Jayaprakash Reddy alias Jagga Reddy on Wednesday suggested that the GHMC and Hyderabad City Police jointly create a new wing 'Rain Traffic Police' for the city.

Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, Jagga Reddy said most of the city roads were turning pools after a spell of heavy rains. This has been causing traffic jams for several hours. He said that the TRS Government promised to develop Hyderabad like Singapore, London or Istanbul. However, nothing was done to improve the civic amenities in view of rising population and also the number of vehicles coming onto roads every day.

Jagga Reddy advised Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to conduct a secret visit to different areas of Hyderabad to get first hand information on the real situation. He also slammed Municipal Administration Minister K. Tarakarama Rao and said that the minister was confined to holding review meetings while wasting the time of senior officials.

He said that the bad condition of roads and other difficulties being faced by people could not be assessed by sitting in AC chambers. He also advised KTR to visit the affected areas and take necessary action to help the rain-hit people.
