Hyderabad: The Women and Child Welfare Minister T Nageswara Rao on Tuesday said there should be a special arrangement for senior citizens in every municipality on the lines of day care centres for children.

The Minister, as the chairman of senior citizen State council, reviewed the welfare of the elders here at the Secretariat. He stressed on giving respect to the elders in all the government offices. He said the officials in all the departments should be enlightened about the Aged Persons Act by writing letters.

Nageswara Rao asked the Health Department Special Chief Secretary Rajeshwar Tewari to ensure that there was a special queue and special wards for the elderly people in the hospitals.

He also wanted the official to start health mobile van for the senior citizens and provide them in all the districts. He asked the transport officials to provide additional seating capacity to the elderly in RTC buses apart from the already reserved seats for senior citizens.
