Petitioners to get fresh hearing under Land Acquisition Act

The High Court at Hyderabad on Wednesday set aside the final declaration made under Section 19(1) of the new Land Acquisition Act pertaining to Ananthagiri reservoir and Sundilla Annaram barrage in respect of only the petitioners. The Telangana State government has also informed the Court that Grama Sabha meetings will be held afresh in the last week of October in Siricilla and Manthani confining it to 45 persons who knocked on the doors of the High Court.

Justice A Ramalingeswar Rao disposed of a batch of writ petitions filed by several persons from four villages - Siripuram, Kasipeta,Anantha Giri and Upatla - complaining that final declarations were issued without following all the provisions of the new Land Acquisition Act. Further steps had also been taken. They sought setting aside of these declarations.

Telangana Advocate General D Prakash Reddy informed the judge that an opportunity of fresh hearing would be given to the petitioners on October 24 and October 25. They can ventilate all their grievances there. The judge set aside the final declaration made under section 19 of act to the extent of petitioners only. The petitioners are permitted to appear before the officers and after affording a hearing the orders shall be passed.
