Rain fury to continue today in parts of State

Hyderabad: Maganoor in Mahbubnagar district recorded 10 cm of rainfall during the last 24 hours, as the Southwest Monsoon continues to be normal over Telangana. Isolated heavy rainfall occurred at places in districts of Mahbubnagar, Karimnagar, Adilabad, Medak, Rangareddy, Nizamabad and Nalgonda, the Met department bulletin said on Wednesday.

The bulletin warned of thunderstorms associated with isolated heavy rain occurring at places in Telangana districts on Thursday. On Wednesday, thunderstorms with heavy rain lashed all districts in the State. According to the forecast, light to moderate rain/thundershowers will occur at many places in all districts from October 12 to 15.

On Wednesday, the chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) in the State were: Bheemadevarapalle 8, Luxettipet 7, Makthal and Sangareddy 5 each, Dharmapuri, Narayankhed, Peddemul, Dharpalle and Huzurabad 4 each, Thimmapur, Bhuvanagiri, Kodangal, Nizamsagar, Tandur and Ghattu 3 each.

The Met department bulletin said the heavy rain was caused by the low pressure area over Jharkhand and adjoining West Bengal becoming less marked and the cyclonic circulation over central Maharashtra and its neighbourhood persisting.
