Hyderabad: TRS MP B. Vinod Kumar on Friday requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to expedite the process for bifurcation of High Court.

In a letter to the Prime Minister, Vinod Kumar urged PM Modi to take steps to resolve the differences between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States over High Court bifurcation. He said it would not be in the interest of BJP Government to drag the HC bifurcation further. Stating that more judges are likely to be appointed to the High Court, he said it would be appropriate if the bifurcation is done during this time.

Vinod Kumar said it was highly regrettable that the Central Government failed to implement the promises made with Telangana State in the AP Reorganisation Act even after three-and-a-half years of division of Andhra Pradesh State. He said neither High Court was bifurcated, nor steps were taken to increase the number of seats in Telangana Assembly. He requested the Prime Minister to bring amendment in Section 26 of Article 3 of the Constitution to increase the Assembly seats.

The TRS MP also condemned inclusion of seven mandals of Khammam into AP State for Polavaram project. Requesting the Prime Minister to break his silence on this issue, he said that the TRS would raise the matter in the Parliament.
