Paddy purchase centre inaugurated
Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy inaugurated the paddy purchase centre at the agriculture market yard here on Saturday. The Minister told the farmers that the State government made all arrangements to lift paddy at the support price and asked them to be make use of the services.

There are 183 paddy purchase centres being run by the Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies and 12 being run by the Indira Kranti Patham women’s group.
The A-grade variety of paddy will be purchased at a price of Rs 1,590 a quintal, while the price of the B-grade variety has been fixed as Rs 1,550 per quintal.
The Minister said there was no shortage of gunny bags. About 35 lakh gunny bags are available in the district. If necessary, another 10 lakh would be requisitioned. Within 48 hours of lifting the paddy, the money would be credited directly into the farmers’ bank accounts, he added.
