Nagarkurnool: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao slammed the Opposition parties for carrying out misinformation campaign against the irrigation projects.

Speaking at a programme after releasing Kalwakurthy project waters in Nagarkurnool district here on Sunday, Harish accused the Congress of misleading people on irrigation projects and welfare programmes. “The Congress during its rule took 20 long years for starting lift works of the project and failed to complete it,” he charged, rejecting the claim of Congress leaders that their regime had completed 90 per cent of the works of Kalwakurthy project.

“There is no truth in those comments,” Harish said, adding that the Congress was vying for mileage and resorting to make false propaganda on the projects, which are being now completed during TRS regime. “It is a known fact that the TRS dispensation has completed the 90 per cent of the works of this project and we are now able to release waters to the crops and drinking purpose which has been the dream for decades,” he claimed.

The Irrigation Minister further informed that the TRS government has spent Rs 1,200 crore in three years on Palamuru projects. Through all the projects, the government is planning to irrigate 7.5 lakh acres during Rabi season, he said, adding that the project was increased from 25 tmc capacity to 40 tmc.
