Hyderabad: BJLP leader G Kishan Reddy on Sunday demanded the State government to order a judicial inquiry into the riots that took place in Utkoor village in Mahbubnagar district and also urged the police not to harass the innocent opposition leaders.

Addressing a press conference here, Kishan Reddy questioned as to why Hindu festivals should be held after taking permission from the police.

He accused the TRS government of not releasing funds for development in the areas where BJP leaders live. Alleging that the police filed cases under the Preventive Detention Act against innocent people in connection with the Utkoor incident, he demanded the government to withdraw the illegal cases foisted against them.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, Kishan Reddy demanded the government to take action against erring police officers, especially against Superintendent of Police Kamaleshwar Singnewar and DSP Srinivas Reddy. He alleged that the police made false representation to the District Magistrate of Mahabubnagar and got the village sarpanch detained.

After the eruption of communal clashes during Ganesh idol immersion procession, the police did not allow the people to celebrate Dussehra festival and imposed illegal curbs on their movement.
