Hyderabad: A case was registered against former Minister D Sridhar Babu for allegedly hatching a conspiracy to implicate a TRS leader in a ganja-related case. He was booked under Drugs Control Act and would be arrested after investigation is completed, the police said on Sunday.

The Congress leader, who was elected from Manthani constituency in 2009 elections, is accused of trying to frame TRS leader from Mahamutharam (erstwhile Karimnagar district) Kishan Reddy in false case by putting 10 kg of ganja in his house. This development came following submission of an audio tape by Kishan Reddy as an evidence to back his claim.

The audio tape has voices of former Sarpanch of Odelu village Sudarshan and Sridhar Babu, who allegedly hatched a plan to fix Kishan Reddy in ganja case. Sudarshan called the former Minister to inform him that he was going to put 10 kg of ganja at TRS leader's house. Sudarshan asked Sridhar Babu to make all arrangements for Kishan Reddy's arrest and the latter agreed to do so. Sridhar Babu and Kishan Reddy are political rivals for some time and the Congress leader allegedly wanted to malign the TRS leader ahead of the 2014 general elections, the complainant said.

The TRS leader alleged that a nine-acre land in Odelu village was the source of dispute between Sridhar Babu and himself. Both Sridhar Babu and Sudharshan brought ganja with the help of one Bhargav as part of their plan.

The police analysed the phone conversation and where from they spoke over cell phones. Central Zone DCP Joel Devis said that there was land dispute between Sridhar Babu and Kishan Reddy. Sudershan and another Congress worker Bhargav had also been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychiatric Substances (NDPS) Act, he added.

Sridhar Babu blames KCR Reacting on a case filed against him, former Minister D Sridhar Babu said that the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was threatening the Opposition leaders by using police.

The police filed a false case against him as pressure was mounted on them by the State government.
