Man dies in firing by poachers
A man died in a firing incident at Dandangi Forest area in Devipatnam mandal of East Godavari district on Sunday.
Kakinada: A man died in a firing incident at Dandangi Forest area in Devipatnam mandal of East Godavari district on Sunday.
According to sources, Posi Ratnam died after some poachers fired at him when he, along with a Forest Beat guard, chased them in Gokavaram Forest Range.
After receiving information on poaching at the Dandangi forest in Gokavaram Range, the forest guard, Varalakshmi, took the help of Ratnam and they both chased the poachers, who are hunting some wild hogs.
After noticing the Forest Guard and the unarmed Ratnam, poachers fired at Ratnam with a country- made weapon.
Forest department officials immediately shifted the injured Ratnam to Government General Hospital in Rajamahendravaram and later he was sent to GGH Kakinada where he was declared brought dead.
