Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao seems to have devised a political strategy to counter the possible aftermath in the event of TDP Telangana State working president A Revanth Reddy joining the Congress.
The strategy charted by Chandrashekar Rao is understood to envisage fielding strong candidates against the Congress nominees in the grand old party strongholds. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief also may give a big shock to the Congress when Revanth jumps on the bandwagon of the Congress.
Revanth’s possible switch to the Congress figured in the marathon Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chandrashekar Rao, at Pragathi Bhavan here on Monday. Chandrashekar Rao enquired about the political developments that are taking place in the State ever since Revanth stirred up a political storm by attacking AP TDP leaders.
Chandrashekar Rao is understood to have advised the Ministers to have cordial relations with the district party leaders and also with the party activists. He instructed all the Ministers to ensure that the pending works are speeded up and also the promises made to the local leaders in the appointment of nominated posts are fulfilled.
It is learnt that Chandrashekar Rao took serious note of unexpected political developments taking place in the TDP. He felt that the mass exodus of TDP leaders to Congress may strengthen the Opposition party in 2019 elections.
The Chief Minister already resumed ‘Operation Akarsh.’ Keeping in mind the recent political developments, the TRS is understood to contact all potential Congress and TDP leaders with big offers.
