The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is planning to construct a flyover connecting Ramanthapur to Amberpet in order to ease traffic congestion with an estimated cost of Rs 1,000 crore. A civic body official said that the elevated corridor will be integrated with the four-lane Amberpet flyover which connects Salem Bible Church at Golnaka and end at Mukram Hotel at Amberpet market.
Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is planning to construct a flyover connecting Ramanthapur to Amberpet in order to ease traffic congestion with an estimated cost of Rs 1,000 crore. A civic body official said that the elevated corridor will be integrated with the four-lane Amberpet flyover which connects Salem Bible Church at Golnaka and end at Mukram Hotel at Amberpet market.
According to GHMC official, the civic body has been chalking out plans to construct a 500-metre elevated corridor from Ramanthapur, which will be integrated with the four-lane Amberpet flyover. The flyover will not only ease the traffic congestion,but also provide permanent solution to all the future projects like construction of an express highway from Uppal junction to Ghatkesar. The GHMC is planning to hold a high-level meeting with Roads and Buildings Department very soon.
A senior GHMC official told The Hans India that theRamanthapur flyover requires 40-acre of land about 50 properties. He said out of multiple plans chalked out the 500-metre Ramanthapur elevated corridor integrated with the Amberpet flyover will be violable. He said in order to integrate the proposed plan the current project plan of Amberpet flyover has to be changed.
The GHMC official said the height of Amberpet flyover has to be raised at least by two metres to five metres in order to provide a permanent traffic solution for the commuters travelling on Uppal- Amberpet stretch. He said the flyover would have four lanes and exist points on either side. He also said the corporation will soon hold a meeting with the R&B Department before submitting the proposal to the State government.
Meanwhile, the government needs to acquire 4.62 acre for road widening, for which Rs 229 crore plan was prepared, while Rs 11.71 crore would be required for the construction of Amberpet flyover. It will be 1.415 kilometre long.
