Hyderabad: Emergence of new technologies has created opportunities for all those who have creative talents, innovative ideas and inclination to take risks to become entrepreneurs, Ashishkumar Chauhan, Managing Director and CEO of Bombay Stock Exchange, said on Friday.

Chauhan was speaking at the opening of the one-day workshop on Education to Entrepreneurship organized by Maulana Azad National Urdu University in collaboration with the US Consulate General, Hyderabad, and The Indus Entrepreneurs. About 500 youngsters from different parts of the country, including Hyderabad, participated in the workshop.

Catherine Hadda, Consul General at the Consulate General of US at Hyderabad, who inaugurated the workshop, said that in her country Universities have been producing entrepreneurs. Many university graduates have later become world famous entrepreneurs. “It is necessary that the seeds of entrepreneurship are sown in the young minds while they are still in colleges and universities,” she said.

Chauhan pointing out at the lightening speed with which innovations are being introduced into daily life underscored the need to align one with the changing demands and try to exploit emerging opportunities.

The workshop was organized at the personal initiative of Zafar Sareshwala, Chancellor of MANUU, who himself is a successful businessman. Sareshwala said that entrepreneurs are not born but become one by understanding the needs of the times and catering to them.

Zafar Mahmood, President of Zakat Foundation of India, emphasised the necessity of changing times and grabbing opportunities.

Dr. M. A. Sikandar, Registrar of MANUU, welcomed the guests and asked the participants to make best use of the workshop.
