Hyderabad: Modernisation of Rythu Bazars in the city could not take off even after nine months of government clearance. Many markets are entangled in permissions fiasco and logistic works. The proposal was put forward earlier this year, but the officials are finding it difficult to get permission from various Departments.

All the 11 RythuBazars in the city, were to be modernised with the latest technology including electronic weighing machine with bill printing facility, LED lights, sheds, compound walls, drinking water and other facilities.

Sources in the Marketing Department said that the modernisation of Rythu bazaars face few logistical hurdles. He said that the Engineering Officials had conducted surveys to restructure of the market, but the Department does not have the layout documents for some RythuBazzars in city.

He said that they had given representationto Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) for the legal documents. When asked about the same, Deputy Director of Marketing Department Padmaharshasaid thatmodernisation of Rythu Bazars had got clearance from the government and soon the Department would finalise the design of the market.

She said that the Rythu Bazars will have a corporate look from now but the inner ambience would give rural look and to restructure one Rythu Bazar would cost around Rs 4 crore. She also added that the modernisation works would first be taken up Kukatpally market.

“We have been finding it difficult to get permissions from the Defence as Mehdipatnam Rythu bazaar comes under Defence area, whereas the Alwal and Bowenpally Rythu bazaars comes under SCB,” she added.
