GHMC implementing energy efficiency initiatives with 30 % less expenditure

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is taking up new initiatives to implement energy efficient techniques in street lights, office buildings along with domestic lighting.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is taking up new initiatives to implement energy efficient techniques in street lights, office buildings along with domestic lighting.
The GHMC has decided to utilize the Centralised Control and Monitoring System (CCMS) for streetlights to enable control of the streetlights throughout Hyderabad from a centralized location.
With the help of CCMS boxes, a centralized command center will be established through which around 4.6 lakh streetlights can be linked with 24,862 CCMS units.
With this implementation, the operational and maintenance cost is estimated to be nearly 30 percent less than the present scenario.
Till date, the GHMC has installed 2,400 CCMS units in the city.
