Revanth quits as MLA to necessitate by-elections
In an apparent move to necessitate by-elections, Kodangal MLA A. Revanth Reddy has resigned from his seat.
Hyderabad: In an apparent move to necessitate by-elections, Kodangal MLA A. Revanth Reddy has resigned from his seat.
Revanth, who tendered his resignation from TDP membership on Saturday, also resigned as member of Telangana Legislative Assembly. Interestingly, the resignation letter is dated October 27. It means he had prepared the letter a day before he me TDP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in Amaravathi.
Since Revanth Reddy has been criticising Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao for encouraging defections in opposition parties and even making a defected MLA (Talasani Srinivas Yadav) as minister in his cabinet, he had quit as MLA before taking the next political move. He is most likely to join the Congress party in the second week of November.
Revanth Reddy's resignation letter was released to the media an hour after he submitted his resignation as TDP member.
Some political analysts are calling this move a master stroke. If the resignation is in proper format, then the Speaker would have to accept it. While this would necessitate by-elections for Kodangal seat in next six months, it might also put Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar and even Speaker S. Madhusudan Chary in a fix over the status of other 25 MLAs who defected from TDP, Congress and YSRCP.
