Hyderabad: The Meeting was organised as a part of ongoing International Conference on “8th International Conference on Photosynthesis and Hydrogen Energy Research for Sustainability-2017”.

This Meeting was organised against the background of the ongoing celebrations of “seventy years of diplomatic ties between India and Russia”. Prof. AlokaParasher, Director, International Affairs leading the Meeting said that there are number of possibilities to collaborate.

Prof. Appa Rao Podile, Vice-Chancellor, University of Hyderabad said that there is a need to search for collaborative possibilities beyond conventional means.

He also mentioned that University of Hyderabad is very much looking forward to have fruitful collaborations not only in research but in teaching also. Prof. Prabhakar Rao, Director e-Learning mentioned that there are two ways of collaboration: one is within the framework of BRICS and another one – within Indo-Russian co-ordination committee on Science and Technology.

Calling for fruitful academic collaborations between India and Russia, Prof. Reddanna, Dean, School of Life Sciences asked to identify research areas of collaboration between University of Hyderabad and participating Russian Institutions. Prof. Padmaja, Department of Plant Sciences talked about collaboration in the area of Plant Sciences. Dr. Marina Rajadurai, shared her experience in working with Indian scientists in Institute of Life Sciences, Hyderabad.

Prof. Anatoly Tsygankov, Deputy Director, Russian Academy of Sciences, Puschino Institute of Basic Biological Problems, talked about Indo-Russian collaboration in Life Sciences. He also highlighted the fact that this collaboration should not be confined to research only and has to be extended to exchange of faculty and students. Prof. Suleyman I. Allakhverdiev, Prof. Vladimir Sukhov, Dr. Maria Borosova-Mubarakshina, Ekaterina Sukhova, Roman Voloshin and others have participated in the Meeting.
