Hyderabad : Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao said that the construction of power plants in the State should be expedited in view of substantial increase in demand for the power from next year onwards.

The Chief Minister wanted the 4000 MW Ultra Mega Power Plant coming up at Damaracharla to be completed within three years. For the Damaracharla Yadadri mega Power Plant, the CM has handed over a Cheque for Rs 417.16 Crore of the total expenditure of Rs 20, 379 Crore to BHEL CMD Sobdi. In this programme, Power Minister Jagadeeshwar Reddy, Chief Secretary SP Singh, TS Genco CMD Prabhakar Rao, Directors C Radhakrishna, M Sachidanandam, BHEL ED Hedia, ED AKM Mukhopadhayaya, TRNSCO JMD Srinivas Rao Special Chief Secretary Ajay Mishra, Principal Secretary S Narsing Rao and others participated.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said for transparency and timely completion of the power plants without any delay, the works is entrusted with the Public sector Company BHEL. Hence, to uphold the State Government’s faith being reposed in BHEL, the power plants works should be completed speedily and with quality standards. For the Yadadri plant, the land required for the plant is acquired and all the permission including the environmental clearance are given. Therefore, the works should be speeded up and the plant should be completed on time.

“We have decided to give 24-hour power supply to farmers from the next March. Construction on the Lift Irrigation Schemes is going on. There are several new industries are coming up. Needs for power in other sectors is also growing up. In Telangana state by next year, there will be an additional need for 3,500 MWs. Keeping in this; we have embarked upon major power plants construction. Of all the plants, Yadadri plant is very important. Work on the 5 x 800 MW plants should be taken up simultaneously and parallelly. Complete the works in three years,” KCR instructed.

There is a discussion on the new power plants at Kothagudem and Manuguru. TS Genco CMD Prabhakar Rao told the CM that the works on the 800MW Kothagudem plant will be completed in two or three months while Manuguru plant will be completed by the coming year. KCR wanted all arrangements should be made for the supply of 24-hour power to the farmers. Keeping in view the requirements for the Lift Irrigation Schemes, Industries, Mission Bhagiratha, Metro Rail project and other projects, planning should be done, the CM said.
