A Memorandum of Understanding was entered into with implementing agency Ixxi S.A.S.U. on experiemental basis.

Lumiplan ITS India Private Limited submitted a proposal for proof of concept implementation of Smart Transport Systems in TSRTC under the Indo-French protocol called FASEP (Fondsd'Etude et d'Aide au SecteurPrivé (French).The French government will support the technical collaboration and reimburse to French firms the costs of expertise, travels and material brought from France under the FASEP protocol. The French firms will invest in terms of providing temporary license, customisation, on bus GPS devices, Solar Powered Display panels and other.

The main objective of the proof of concept project is to study and demonstrate on the field the usage of innovative solutions for a better public transport in Hyderabad. GPS tracking and advanced on-board electronic equipment will be used for having in a real-time basis the status of TSRTC buses. The information will be used for different purposes such as informing the passengers about the arrival of buses on a real time basis, monitoring and correcting the operations by TSRTC. The passengers will be informed through solar-powered display, multimodal smart phone app and multimedia screens at the bus shelters.

The project will be implemented within nine months in three phases, four solar powered displays will be installed on the field and one solar display have been installed at Bus Bhavan. On-board electronic equipments (VMU) will be fitted on the buses of routes 40 (Secunderabad-Ashoknagar-Koti,11kms,22 buses) and 86 (Secunderabad-Warasiguda-Koti,12kms,17buses).

If the result of the pilot project is not satisfactory, the installed infrastructure can be removed by the French company with no cost to TSRTC and if the results are considered either partial or fully satisfactory, the solutions will be transferred to TSRTC at no cost.Minister for Transport P Mahender Reddy, TSRTC Chairman Somarapu Satyanarayana, Principal Secretary (TR&B) Sunil Sarma, Managing Director G V Ramana Rao and other officials participated in the meeting.
