Hyderabad: The Congress party does not appear to be in a mood to throw a political challenge to the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at this stage. The party is understood to have advised A Revanth Reddy, who had recently resigned from the TDP and joined Congress, not to quit his MLA’s post. According to sources, the party high command is holding talks with State party in-charge R C Khuntia, CLP leader K Jana Reddy and TPCC President N Uttam Kumar Reddy on the impact of Revanth’s resignation as MLA in the State politics, particularly and the political advantage to the Congress party.

It may be recalled here that Revanth had quit as TDP Telangana working President and also sent in his resignation letter from MLA post in Speaker’s format to TDP national president N Chandrababu Naidu ahead of his joining the Congress. But Naidu has so far not forwarded the letter to Telangana State Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary for consideration. In fact, initially the Congress thought that if Revanth resigned from Assembly, the Speaker would immediately accept it and in next six months there would be byelection for Kodangal Assembly constituency.

Revanth can get elected as Congress leader and then the party can put pressure on the government to accept the resignations of all the MLAs who had left Congress and TDP and joined the pink party. A senior Congress told The Hans India that the AICC had asked the TPCC not to take any hasty decision. The TPCC has been asked to weigh benefit against risk in Revanth quitting as MLA. The TRS party’s act in poaching Revanth’s followers in Kodangal constituency seems to have prompted a rethink among the Congress leaders.
