The Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) held a meeting on Saturday where they decided the water sharing ratio for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in 66:34 ratio.

The five-hour marathon meeting in Hyderabad witnessed heated arguments between representatives of both states on issues such as diversion of Godavari water to Krishna basin by Andhra Pradesh along with the alleged tampering of telemetry equipment to indicate less withdrawals of water from Pothireddypadu head regulator by AP.

KRMB chairman SK Srivatsava intervened and assured quick action on the issue by examining available data, telemetry points, and their performance.

KRMB will decide both in surplus and deficit years in the same ratio and also release water from Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar as per schedule.

KRMB has also agreed to submit data regarding return flows from various projects on river Krishna and also finalize the working manual.

The Board, however, decided to refer the issue of water diversion through Pattiseema to an expert committee.
