Hyderabad: Information Technology Minister K T Rama Rao on Monday said the Congress was the only rival and negative force in the State and the country. The Minister was speaking at the joining programme of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Kancharla Bhupal Reddy into Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) at Telangana Bhavan on Monday. The TRS leader said, “There is no Telugu Desam in Telangana and the only rival and only shani (negative force) left in the State and the country is the Congress.”

He took strong exception to the remarks made by senior Congress leader K Jana Reddy, who said the people were looking towards Congress again. Rama Rao questioned as to what the Congress had done to the people of the State that they were looking upon Congress. He said there were important leaders like Jana Reddy, Uttam Kumar Reddy, Venkat Reddy as Ministers in Andhra Pradesh, but none of them could solve the fluorosis problem in the district. He said the problem would be vanished once drinking water is supplied through Mission Bhagiratha.

Rama Rao said the TRS had been winning successive elections with record majority. In every election, the Congress leaders said the downfall of TRS would begin, but people voted in favour of TRS, he added. He said the TDP was dead in Telangana and is now limited to Andhra Pradesh. Its fate was like Lalu Prasad Yadav’s party (Rashtriya Janata Dal), which restricted itself to Bihar when Jharkhand was formed.

The TRS leader ridiculed the Congress leaders’ comments that Sonia Gandhi had given Telangana. He said the Congress won elections in 2004 with the support of TRS, but left the issue in lurch till 2009. When people took up the agitation, the Congress had no other option but to give Telangana, he said. The TDP leader Kancharla Bhupal Reddy was made in charge of Nalgonda Assembly Constituency. The existing in charge Dubbaka Narsimha Reddy would be given the post of chairman to any of the corporations, the Minister said.
