DAV Public School Safilguda has become the hub of action as the CBSE National Judo Championship meet is being hosted here . It has created a history in its own way as it is the first time that any of the 920 DAV schools spread across the length and breadth of the country has been nominated to conduct this prestigious meet in this year.

The five-day meet spanning from November 8-12, was inaugurated on Wednesday evening in a spectacular ceremony. Mynampally Hanumanth Rao, MLC graced the occasion as the Chief guest . CH. Kanaka Reddy, MLA, Malkajgiri, Pushpalatha Reddy, Corporator , GHMC, 137 Div and Parasurami Reddy, TRS leader were the other dignitaries who shared the stage along with them.
Beginning with the lighting of the lamp followed by march past by participants and oath taking, unfurling of the National and CBSE flags and a scintillating cultural presentation, the ceremony culminated with the declaration of the meet open by the Chief Guest and lighting of the meet torch.
694 participants along with 169 coaches and escorts from eight zones across the country viz Far East Zone ; East Zone ; South Zone ; West Zone ; North Zone – I ; North Zone – II ; Central Zone and Gulf Zone converged in the school to participate in the prestigious event which is the launch pad for selection to International championships. The winners of this meet not only get selected for representing the country at International levels, but also get sizeable waivers for higher studies. Some of the participants are reported to have taken part in international matches already.
The competition is held under four categories and weights separately for boys and girls viz. under- 11; under -14; under- 17 and under- 19
The Principal of the school, Parthipan introduced and welcomed each dignitary in his crisp and humble fashion. A die hard sports enthusiast himself and a person of clear vision, he along with Physical Director and organizing Secretary Subhash Chandra and team has done a commendable job in making meticulous plan to hold a meet of this magnitude and accommodate nearly 800 guests in the school. While thanking all stake holders, he thanked the President DAV CMC, Poonam Suri and J.P.Shoor , Director ( Sports and Public Schools) for their ceaseless inspiration.
Mynampally Hanumanth Rao wished the participants the very best of luck and advised that those who lose the game should not give up but strive harder to overcome their shortcomings.

The meet will close on November 12 evening with prize distribution and a solemn closing ceremony.
