MIM legislator in Telangana Assembly, Akbaruddin Owaisi urged Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao o bring back Nizam's jewellery, that is currently in New Delhi.

Calling it the identity of Hyderabad, the MIM leader said that the jewellery can be brought back as per the Centre’s rules if any member of the royal family is willing to hand over the King Koti Palace to keep the jewellery in safe custody.

He urged the Telangana government to pursue the case and ensure the jewellery return back to Hyderabad.

Responding to this, KCR declared on Thursday that the state government would retrieve the jewels of the erstwhile Nizam of Hyderabad, and bring it back to the city.

The Nizam Osman Ali Khan's personal jewellery consists of more than 150 pieces that are at present in an RBI vault in New Delhi. The cost of the precious jewels has been pegged by the historians to be several thousand crores with the large 185-carat Jacob diamond, which the Nizam used to use as a paperweight, included in the collection.
