The main opposition Congress party, led by its Deputy leader G. Chinna Reddy, has staged a walkout from the Telangana State Legislative Assembly on Monday alleging that the State Government was forming the Rythu Samanvaya Samithis to benefit the TRS members. 

Hyderabad : The main opposition Congress party, led by its Deputy leader G. Chinna Reddy, has staged a walkout from the Telangana State Legislative Assembly on Monday alleging that the State Government was forming the Rythu Samanvaya Samithis to benefit the TRS members.

Making the protest, the Congress leaders said that more than 80% of the farmers were small and tenant farmers. However, the State Government's scheme would benefit was aimed at benefitting only 20% rich farmers. Describing the proposed Samithis are anti-farmers, the Congress leaders that the farmers who own large stretches of land would be eligible for the investment support of Rs. 8,000 per acre per annum being given by government.

Uttam, KCR spar over non-waiving of interest on crop loans

TPCC President and Huzurnagar MLA Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy had a argument with the Chief Minister alleging that the government did not fulfill the promise of waiving of interest on crop loans. He alleged that the banks were collecting interest on waived off crop loans from the farmers due to delay in payment of installments. He said despite the Chief Minister giving an assurance in the House that the government would pay the interest amount, the promise was not fulfilled.

Intervening on the issue, the Chief Minister accused Congress leader of diverting the issue. He said when the government could pay Rs. over Rs. 16,000 crores under Loan waiver scheme, why it could not pay the interest amount. Protesting on the issue, the Congress members left the House. Meanwhile, other members NVSS Prabhakar of BJP, Sandra Venkat Reddy of TDP and Sunnam Rajaiah of CPI (M) also said that they had details of banks collecting interest on loan amount from the farmers.
