Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao during the Question Hour in the Assembly on Monday said that the state government is considering the expansion of MMTS Phase II to the towns nearby Hyderabad.

The MMTS Phase II is already under implementation for a length of 84.4 kms covering four corridors. The stretch of 21 kms between Secunderabad and Ghatkesar will be further extended by another 32 kms from Ghatkesar to Raigir railway station, that will be developed as Yadadri station under Phase III.

He informed that the the pace for the Phase II work has accelerated post the formation of Telangana and Rs 817 cr has been released by the Centre for the project.

Terming the Hyderabad Metro Rail project as the world’s largest metro rail project taken up under public-private partnership mode, KTR said that they are keen to have Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurate it during his visit to Hyderabad on November 28 but the official confirmation is yet to be received.

The first 30 km of the Hyderabad Metro Rail will be open to public following the inauguration on Novemeber 28.
