Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao addressing the members in the Telangana Assembly said that the state government has sanctioned Rs 3000 crore to the Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) project.

He informed that the government had spent Rs 2,240 crore so far of the total sanctioned amount.

Replying to the questions raised in the House, KTR said that the Central Government was providing Viability Gap Funding (VGP) of Rs 1,458 crore and Rs 958 crore had been released till date adding that no proposal has been made to expand HMR to nearby towns of Hyderabad.
