Hyderabad Police to give rewards to identify beggars in the city after Dec 25
The Telangana Prisons department is all set to give away rewards to anyone who identifies beggars with Rs 500 from December 25.The Hyderabad Police which has already taken up the initiative to make the city beggar free, has prohibited begging till January 7 next year on the city\'s roads, to overcome inconvinience to the public and danger to vehicular traffic.

The Hyderabad Police which has already taken up the initiative to make the city beggar free, has prohibited begging till January 7 next year on the city's roads, to overcome inconvinience to the public and danger to vehicular traffic.
So far, the Prisons department has shifted around 360 beggars from different parts of the Hyderabad to Anand Ashrams or special homes located in Chanchalguda and Cherlapalli.
The officials clarified that the drive has not been initiated due to the upcoming three-day Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) 2017, scheduled to begin in the city on November 28, which will have Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump's daughter and advisor Ivanka Trump in attendance.
The Telangana government is taking up rehabilitation of beggars and accordingly set up special homes for beggars. In the first phase, the beggars have been counselled and around 250 of them have been handed over to their relatives as an initiative that they won't resort to begging in the future.
Photos, finger prints and Aadhaar card numbers of beggars have been recorded to identify if they beg again. If they are caught, they will be sent to jail under the Prevention of Begging Act 1977.
Also, various NGOs are being roped in to admit those who are elderly, mentally ill, and physically challenged.
