Hyderabad: Various student organisations of University of Hyderabad (UoH) have given a call for “university shutdown” on Tuesday, demanding revocation of suspension of 10 students.

In a press release on Monday, the UoH Students’ Unions blamed the university administration of framing fabricated charges against a section of students. The administration, the statement said, had suspended 10 students without conducting inquiry. One of the suspended students is an elected GSCASH representative.

The union accused the administration of resorting to a blatant act to protect a hostel warden though he was facing charges of sexual harassment. The administration had been making blatant lies over the incidents occurred on the night of November 3 in the university, it said.

The student body appealed to the UoH administration to restore normality in the campus by revoking the suspension orders of all the 10 students.

Meanwhile, the UoH administration said that the suspended students had appealed to the Vice-Chancellor and the same had been referred to the Executive Council (EC), which is the appellate authority. The EC will meet on December 2.

Further, pending consideration of the appeal the university has decided to keep the suspension order in abeyance until the matter would be disposed of by the appellate authority. The suspended students would be allowed to attend their semester end examinations, a UoH, a press release said.
