Hyderabad: Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister K Srihari on Monday hinted that he would bid adieu to active politics after his term as the Member of Legislative Council (MLC) comes to an end in 2021. In a chit chat with press persons in the Assembly lobbies here, the Deputy CM said that he saw many ups and downs in his political career which began in the 80s. He got big recognition during the TDP regime and also enjoying respectful position in the TRS government. He said that he had no regrets in his marathon political stint.

Since he was nominated MLC, the minister said the chances to contest 2019 elections are remote. After the end of his term, he is planning to retire from politics. The senior-most Telangana leader also explained the hurdles he faced in streamlining the fee reimbursement schemes. He succeeded in curbing the corporation education institutions from misusing the scheme by linking the beneficiaries to Aadhaar number. The government was also making efforts to introduce biometric system in every college to improve the educational standards in private institutions. It would take at least five years to plug the loopholes in the corporate education system.
