He informed that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has initiated annual maintenance of nalas where 75 lakh cubic meters silt has been removed to ensure smooth flow of drainage water.

Adding that GHMC has only 1,221 kms of stormwater drains of about 9,000 kms of roads, hence resulting in water stagnation, KTR said that 13 chronic water stagnation points have been identified and action has been initiated to rectify them.

He also mentioned that the GHMC are trying to rectify 346 road vulnerable points prone to water stagnation at a cost of Rs 121.5 crores by next monsoon along with mprovement of bottlenecks for 47 storm water drain at the cost of Rs 230 crore.

The Minister shared that a meeting will be held with all the GHMC area to find a permanent solution for stormwater drain issue.
