CM denies Congress allegations of non-spending of SC, ST budget
Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao said that the Telangana Government has spent Rs. 33,462 Crore out of Rs. 85,071 Crore allocated under Plan budget for the current financial year 2017-18. Overall, an amount of Rs. 37.99% of Plan budget has been spent so far.

Intervening on a question raised by Congress MLAs Dr. Geetha Reddy, A. Sampath Kumar and others during Question Hour in Legislative Assembly on Friday, the Chief Minister denied the allegation that funds allocated for welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes were not being spent properly. He informed that of Rs. 14,375 crore allocated for SCs and Rs. 8,165 crore allocated for STs under Plan, so far Rs. 5,475 Cr (38%) and Rs. 3,359 (41.13%) have been spent for SCs and STs respectively. He also denied the allegation the funds meant for SCs and STs were being diverted for other schemes.
Stating that the State Government was committed towards the welfare of SCs and STs, he assured that complete details of budget spent on both the communities would be shared with all legislators. He said that information on spending was of nearly one lakh pages and the MLAs could give their feedback after going through the information. He also announced that the government would convene a special two-day session to discuss on the issues. He said the special session could be convened after the visit of Prime Minister Narender Modi to attend an international conference being held in the city from November 28-30. He said that the Prime Minister would also inaugurate the Metro Rail project during the visit.
Earlier, the Chief Minister also assured to convene a meeting with MLAs belonging to Backward Classes on December 3. He said his government was committed for the welfare of BCs who constitute over 50% of the total population. He said that the government would soon receive a report on backwardness of BC communities in the state and the same would be discussed during the meeting with BC MLAs, MLCs and MPs.
