The State Assembly’s eighth session was adjourned sine die on Friday after 16 days of work which commenced on October 27. According to the statistics announced by Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary, the present session lasted for 69 hours and 25 minutes. Hyderabad: The State Assembly’s eighth session was adjourned sine die on Friday after 16 days of work which commenced on October 27. According to the statistics announced by Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary, the present session lasted for 69 hours and 25 minutes. The Speaker said that 100 starred and 40 unstarred questions were answered, answers for 48 starred questions were tabled, answers for 10 unstarred questions were tabled, 250 supplementary questions were answered, 103 speeches were made and four statements had been made by the government.
About 11 short discussions took place, 11 Bills were passed and one committee report was tabled. As on November 17, the strength of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in the House was 82, followed by the Congress 19, AIMIM – 7, BJP – 5, Telugu Desam – 3, CPI – 1, CPM – 1, independent – 1 and nominated – 1.
As far as speeches made in the Assembly are concerned, the Chief Minister and Ministers spoke for 25 hours, TRS members – 13 hours, Congress – 12 hours, MIM – 5 hours, BJP – 7 hours, TDP - 3 hours, CPI - nine minutes, CPM – 1.56 hours and independent – six minutes. Leader of the House spoke for 8.55 hours, leader of Opposition – 1.23 hours, MIM floor leader – 3.48 hours, BJP floor leader – 2.46 hours, floor leader of CPI – nine minutes and floor leader of CPM – 1.56 hours. The house was disrupted for 8 minutes by the Congress and three minutes by the BJP.
