Nine persons have been arrested for allegedly resorting to religious conversions at their orphanage in Moulali.According to the police, the accused were bringing children from tribal hamlets in Khammam, Mahbubnagar, Suryapet and Warangal districts on the pretext of providing free food and education at their orphanage in Hyderabad.

According to the police, the accused were bringing children from tribal hamlets in Khammam, Mahbubnagar, Suryapet and Warangal districts on the pretext of providing free food and education at their orphanage in Hyderabad.

However, instead of providing them regular education, they were made study texts of a particular religion and informally given different names.

A case has been registered against the nine people under IPC sections 153-a, 342, 363, sections 2 and 4 of the JJ Act and the SC & ST Prevention of Atrocities Act. The accused were remanded in judicial custody and the children have been handed over to child welfare department.
