Hyderabad : Congress senior leader and ex-MP V. Hanumantha Rao has strongly condemned IT Minister K. Tarakarama Rao for his alleged remarks wherein he asked people to bury Congress party in Telangana State.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, VHR described KTR's remarks as childish. He reminded that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao began his political career from Congress party and the party has produced several stalwarts during its 125-year history. He said that the Congress party has a history of making a comeback and it would do so in 2019 elections. He announced that he would door-to-door campaign in all villages of Telangana to ensure Congress party's victory in 2019 elections.

VHR also condemned Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not participating in the birth centenary celebrations of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He asked the Prime Minister to explain for reasons for having so much of hatred towards Indira Gandhi and Nehru-Gandhi family. He said that the reforms introduced by Indira Gandhi had revolutionised the lives of crores of poor people. He said land reforms introduced during her regime were still benefitting the poor people.

The Congress leader also demanded payment of adequate compensation for the farmers having land beneath hi-tension wires. He said as per guidelines, such farmers should be paid Rs. 4.5 lakh per acre. However, he said in violation of rules, the farmers are being paid just Rs. 1.5 lakh per acre and not all affected farmers are getting the benefit.
