A fake Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officer was arrested at Rajiv Gandhi International (RGI) airport in Hyderabad with a net cash of Rs 26 lakh.

A fake Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officer was arrested at Rajiv Gandhi International (RGI) airport in Hyderabad with a net cash of Rs 26 lakh.

The RGI Airport officials received a complaint of Income Tax Officer, Air Intelligence Unit in Shamshabad airport and arrested M Nageshwar Rao, who is being remanded to judicial custody.

They seized a fake CBI Employee ID card along with four envelope covers of CBI Department, letterhead of Central Vigilance Commission, and boarding pass of Rao.

The Income Tax Department officials seized the cash amount after the confession of the accused who was traveling from Vijayawada.

He was carrying the cash to discharge an official work for an employee of Panchayath Department whose land dispute case was pending in the court.

Using the fake ID card, he also used to look after the official work at the AP Secretariat.

Rao, who earlier worked as the accounts manager in a private company was removed from the service due to ill health. Following this, he has been impersonating as the Deputy Chief Investigation Officer of CBI department.
