Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Telangana State became a reality due to the struggle and sacrifices of students and youth.
Hyderabad : Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Telangana State became a reality due to the struggle and sacrifices of students and youth.
Addressing hundreds of artists, students and youth who joined the Congress party on Wednesday in the presence of AICC Telangana Incharge Secretary R.C. Khuntia and AICC SC Cell chairman Koppula Raju, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that lakhs of students have sacrificed their careers for the cause of statehood. He said when the then united Andhra Pradesh Government wanted to take up recruitment drives, students' JAC rejected it and insisted only on separate Telangana. He said Congress president Sonia Gandhi granted statehood for Telangana only due to the movement carried out by the students and youth. He said youth expected jobs and better opportunities in the new State. However, he said TRS Government led by Chief Minister K. Chandrashehkhar Rao has shattered all those dreams.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said only KCR family extracted benefits out of Telangana State and deprived all students and youth of all opportunities. By causing delay in clearing Fee Reimbursement dues and giving scholarships, it caused huge mental agony for lakhs of students and their families. He said TRS Government did not even fill over one lakh vacancies that existed at the time of formation of Telangana and therefore, there was no question of creating new jobs, both in public and private sector. He said that the Chief Minister also suppressed all kinds of agitation by students and youth.
Welcoming the students, youth and artists into the Congress party, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress party was all set to come to power in 2019 elections. Besides creating lakhs of jobs, the next Congress Government would give a monthly allowance of Rs. 3,000 to all jobless youth. He also welcomed the joining of hundreds of artists in the Congress party and appealed them to use their skills in exposing the failures of TRS Government.
Thousands of students led by their leaders including Ellanna, Balakrishna and Durgam Bhaskar joined the Congress party and expressed their resolve to bring the party to power in next elections.
R.C. Khuntia, in his speech, accused KCR of betraying the students and youth of Telangana. He both KCR and Prime Minister Narender Modi have failed to fulfill the aspirations of youth and they would voted out of power in next elections.
Koppula Raju enthralled students to launch another movement against the anti-people policies of TRS Government. He said that the students' movement should penetrate all villages of Telangana.
TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka recalled the role played by the students of Osmania University in Telangana movemente. However, he said instead of rewarding the students, he alleged that the TRS Government has deprived Osmania University and all other universities of required funds and staff.
The artists who joined the Congress party today also gave an enthralling performance at Gandhi Bhavan.
The function was also attended by former MPs Ponnam Prabhakar and M. Anjan Kumar Yadav, TPCC General Secretary Dr. Dasoju Sravan and other leaders.
