Hyderabad: The State government will honour the High Court’s order in respect of Teachers Recruitment Test, said Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari here on Saturday. Talking to media persons after laying foundation stone for a new examination building, taken up at a cost of Rs 6.50 crore at Ambedkar University here, Srihari said the officials were examining the court order and issue a fresh notification in compliance with the High Court order. The test would be held in 10 erstwhile districts instead of 31 districts as contemplated earlier.

The Minister said the government would develop the Ambedkar University. A total 1.5 lakh candidates were getting enrolled in distance education courses being offered by the university. A decision was taken to conduct online competitive examinations in future.

“Universities were authorised to fill 1,550 professor posts and it was decided to increase salaries of contract, associate and assistant professors. The State government released Rs 420 crore for development of universities and Ambedkar University got Rs 20 crore for development. The previous governments had neglected the universities and the TRS government was making efforts to streamline them,” Srihari said.

The State government had permitted the universities to recruit staff and hike salaries of teaching staff. A committee of Vice-Chancellors took a decision to appoint faculty and increase salaries soon, he added.
