A tribal was allegedly killed by the Maoists in Cherla Mandal of Bhadradri Kothagudem district in the wee hours of Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Sode Prasad, a resident of Pedamiseleru village in Cherla Mandal.

According to the police, five armed Maoists came to the house of Sode Prasad around 2 am and asked him to accompany them on the pretext of discussions.

But when the family members refused their request, they forcibly took away Prasad and shot him in the head killing him on the spot.

They reportedly even left behind a warning another person from the village to stop acting as a ‘police informer’.

It is learned that the Maoists had been warning Prasad not to act as a police informer but when the latter ignored their warnings, they shot him.
