Hyderabad: A three-member gang robbed a cash bag containing Rs 1.26 crore from gold merchants who were on a visit to Hyderabad from Mysore, Karnataka. The incident took place close to City Police Commissionerate office on Saturday night. According a complaint by the victims with the Narayana­guda police, three employees of a Mysore-based gold businessman, Rajendra, were in city to buy gold.

However, the trio, Sanketh, Swapnil and Sangappa, stayed back for a day at a Skyline apartment in the backside of the City Police Commissionerate, as price of the gold fell.

However, three unidentified men entered into their apartment and thrashed the three employees before fleeing with the cash. “We have registered a case of robbery and began investigation,” said B Ravinder, Inspector, Narayanaguda police station.

The police who accessed the CCTV footage of the nearby shops and buildings began analysing the way the robbery took place. They are investigating the case from different angles, as to how the information was known to the robbers about the presence of Mysore-based gold merchants.
