Telangana Urban Development and Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao and L&T officials held a press conference last week confirming the cost escalation.

The project was initially set to be completed by April 2016, however, Telangana government approved the extension of the deadline until November 2018.

Divided into three corridors, the 72-km long elevated rail line will be rolled out in three phases. The first one will cover 29 km, second 15 km and the third - 28 km.

On November 28, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first phase of the project - of 30 km and 24 stations.

KTR elaborated on the inauguration and said that the metro stretch of 30 km would be the longest in the country adding that the metro services will be open to the public on November 29 at 6 a.m.
