A student from Hyderabad was taken into police custody on Sunday following his Facebook post against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The 21-year-old law student, Arif Muhammed was interrogated for nearly 17 hours.

According to the reports, the fourth-year-law student, who resided at Banjara Hills, was picked up by mufti policemen while he was attending a function at Gudimalkapur in Mehdipatnam.

Arif shared an article regarding popular online figure Ram Subramaniam’s Facebook post declaring a Rs 1 lakh reward for anyone who would hurl a shoe at the Prime Minister.

The post was in response to the bounty offered by BJP leaders and other groups, some even declared to behead actress Deepika Padukone and Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for making a movie which ‘distorted’ the history of Padmavati.

Arif was let off at Gachibowli police station after hours of interrogation after he clarified that he had only shared the article and not written it.
